Robert “Bobby” Ussery

Robert “Bobby” Ussery, a Hall of Fame jockey, says horse racing made him into the man he is today. He has survived triple bypass surgery and now he wants to let someone else do the chores. He has better things to do, like watch horse racing. The Presidential Place team is more than willing to oblige.

“It’s a great place. It’s clean, welcoming and family oriented. And when it comes to their people — the general manager, the nurses, the kitchen staff, the maintenance crew, the receptionist — everyone I’ve dealt with is really good at what they do. Presidential Place is very well run, from the top down.”

"I can’t say enough wonderful things about the staff. Everyone has made sure Mom felt welcomed from the moment she moved in and I can see that they’re handling COVID-19 issues very thoughtfully and caringly, and that’s so comforting. I’m just so grateful to know Mom’s living where people are treating her with love and kindness every day, just like her family would."

"Even though I’ve had very little face-to-face time with Phyllis since March, the last time we were able to meet outside and be together in the garden area. I understand why it has had to be that way. I don’t like it, but I understand it. And I’m looking forward to the current restrictions changing soon so that we can spend more time together, like we did before social distancing started keeping us so far apart."

“A few months ago, my Mom needed to move from the assisted living community to the memory care neighborhood. I got a call from Presidential Place’s general manager explaining that her dementia had increased and it was time to make a change. It was really remarkable that not only were they able to move her so smoothly during COVID-19, but also that I was able to help.”

“The staff makes you feel good. And they’re very attentive. One day they immediately noticed I was having serious problems. One of the nurses was there and saw what was happening. She gave me CPR and saved my life. She’s my angel. She and the rest of the staff are like family to me — they help me. And that’s why I can’t leave here. It’s home.”
